Changing the World One Pair at a Time ™

I don't know about you but I have a boat load of shoes that I've worn only once or twice and that's it. They're taking up room in my way-too-small closet.

I recently attended the Comfort One Shoes annual meeting in Arlington, VA where we were introduced to Wayne Elsey. He's the founder and CEO of Souls4Soles, an organization that gives away free shoes to needy people. I was truly inspired after watching the "Why" video". How many of us wait in line for various things we want? Why?… We even camp out over night, waiting in line. Why?… There are people all over the world willing to wait in line for hours, even days, if necessary, but not for a video game, or a concert ticket - but for a pair of shoes!

Comfort One Shoes has pledged to donate 100,000 pairs of shoes and $100,000 to Soles4Souls! And, to kick off that campaign, Soles4Souls scheduled appearances at all the Comfort One Shoes locations. So you've finally started your work at home on-line business. Like others before you, you've decided to start with affiliate programs. Provided you choose the right programs and do some strategic planning while promoting your affiliate products, you can make good money with affiliate marketing.

It doesn't matter whether you are promoting other people’s products or promoting your own products because it's your work at home on-line business. Whatever your case may be, I am sure you wouldn't invite others to steal your share of profit.

Security is one of the key factors in affiliate marketing. If you do not adopt proper security measures, then your on-line business will be at risk. Don't take your affiliate links for granted. A bit of carelessness may cost you a lot of dollars.

The long complicated links that you send to your prospects not only look convoluted but they can create a lot of problems too! If you send such an affiliate link to your customers, then the smart ones will figure out that you are promoting someone else’s product and they would rather visit the parent company. Also, if your link does not function properly then your customers have to type a really long URL into the browser, which will definitely put him or her off.

You could be a victim of even a worse situation. What if some devious Internet pirates steal your affiliate links and replace them with theirs. If they do that, then you get no commission at all.

Link cloaking protects you in the truest sense. If your links are tampered with, all the effort you put toward building your business and advertising will be rendered useless. A cloaking system is essential to your on-line business. So is advertising and promoting. Using a system to multitask your efforts is a smart move to make.

Beverly Hills Trip

What a marvelous trip to Beverly Hills, CA. It was a great little get away and the weather was absolutely gorgeous. Bright sunshine, cool breeze and not as humid as it is here in Maryland.

The Garmin my kids gave me for Christmas, was a life saver. Although we had help getting where we wanted to go, by asking hotel staff and waiters, the Garmin gave us that added confidence we needed while driving in unfamiliar areas.

I broke up the trip here into seperate pages. Just click each day to see what we did.

Elvis and Celine on American Idol

Ways to Use Social Media Marketing as Part of Your Work at Home On-Line Marketing Plan

Social media marketing is more than a fad. It’s an amazing way to market to the whole world. Social network sites have been around for a few years, and in the beginning, were just that - Social. Now people are realizing that if they use them to their full potential, social network marketing can increase traffic, which in turn, results in increased sales.

Since most social networking sites are free, it is a cost effective way to build your work at home on-line business. As with anything, consistency is the key and will go a long way to increase your on-line presence.

Using a blog is an excellent way to communicate with your friends and potential customers. Use your blog to show off YOU. Encourage your readers to leave a comment so that you can receive feedback on your content. Keeping a dialog going through your own comments adds fresh content to you blog.

Using other people's blogs helps in establishing yourself as an expert. Finding other blogs within your own niche and offering your own comments will provide additional information to their readers, adding more exposure for you as the expert.

Connect with people in Facebook, MySpace and the like. These sites have become a great way for people to connect both socially and professionally. Sometimes it’s difficult to mix business with pleasure on these sites. Keeping it in balance is the key. I personally, don’t like to be bombarded with self promotion on these networks.

Using groups in social medias is an excellent way to communicate about your niche. Find a group to join or create your own to reach your potential customers and get communication going that way.

Twitter is all the rage lately. It’s a social media site where you leave comments in less than 140 characters. Short and sweet. Connect with people by following them and allow people to follow you. Post the link to your blog or website in your bio. In your comments, keep a balance between social and self promotion, but certainly post links that would be helpful to your followers. Getting your followers to know you better is the focus.

Adding videos to blogs have become increasingly popular. If you are not camera shy, it’s a great way to get prospective customers to know you better. It can be informative and entertaining. I like being able to put a face to the name. If you put a video on your blog, post it on YouTube. YouTube is another way of reaching out to people.

Social networking can be time-consuming. It depends on what works for you and your prospective customers. It can be easy to get carried away chatting and following, forgetting that your focus is to run your business. Again, balance is important no matter what your day to day activities are. Social media marketing can be part of your work at home on-line business plan, bringing you closer to your customers and offering them a way to learn from you. Enjoy!
